Just Enough Operating System

A bare minimum system that includes just enough operating system (JeOS) to boot live, setup networking and install packages with apt-get from the Ubuntu or TurnKey Linux package repositories. Not really an appliance, but more of a technical exercise in how low Ubuntu can go without breaking the rules and while still being the least bit useful.

  • Base distribution: Ubuntu 8.04.3 LTS
  • Packaged as a Live CD (I.e., bootable ISO) that can run on real hardware in addition to most types of virtual machines (e.g., VMWare, VirtualBox, Xen HVM, KVM).
  • Console auto login
