Hi,

I just downloaded the file server appliance, but a cannot power on the machien getting error :

An unexpected error was received from the ESX host while powering on VM vm-4778.
Module DevicePowerOn power on failed.
Unable to create virtual SCSI device for scsi0:0, '/vmfs/volumes/4f9fde6e-6ca68d37-5c6c-00215af3799c/DGL-VL-FileShare/turnkey-fileserver-11.3-lucid-x86.vmdk'
Failed to open disk scsi0:0: Unsupported or invalid disk type 7.  Ensure that the disk has been imported.

I typed to schange the scsi to 0.1 but failed aswel

i'm using vmware vsphere 5.0

i tryed useing it on different storage types(dell, intel)

 

After tryping for some time now i just moved to the iso image

There have been a few issues with VMware products over the last few years, mostly issues with an incompatibility between the default kernel and ESX/ESXi products. But this seems to be a new one...

Glad you got it working with the ISO.

My personal favourite workaround is to use a different Hypervisor (my preference is ProxmoxVE) but I am aware that that is not always possible or practical.
