Commercial support

Community support is invaluable self-help resource, but when you depend on an open source solution having someone you can turn to for commercial-level support is not only reassuring, it can also save you quite a bit of pain, time and money.

We're the engineers behind TurnKey Linux, and we have decades of combined experience with Linux and open source technologies under our belt. If you need our help, we're here for you.

We offer several tiers of engineering-level support:

  • Tier 1 - $1,840/month: Up to 25 monthly hours, extra hours $69/hour
  • Tier 2 - $940/month: Up to 10 monthly hours, extra hours $89/hour
  • Tier 3 - $179/hour

Custom virtual appliance development

What we can do for you

We can build custom virtual appliances for your organization that will help you do more with less by reducing unnecessary friction and leveraging cost-effective on-demand infrastructure (I.e., cloud deployment).

We have significant proven experience rapidly building a high quality, cost effective virtual appliance that is easy to deploy and easy to use.

Depending on your needs we can either build on top of an existing open source TurnKey appliance (e.g., TurnKey Core) or design and build a new appliance from scratch.

We're offering true contract development services and are aggressive when it comes to providing the best value:

  • We don't charge per-seat
  • We don't charge for what has already been developed when we build on an existing open source appliance (e.g., TurnKey Core)
  • We don't sell expensive Do-It-Yourself kits (I.e., "SDKs")
  • We don't charge for access to proprietary package repositories

Cost savings

In a nutshell, the appliances are open source so there are no licensing fees. When we charge for premium services (e.g., consulting, custom development, support contracts, etc.) it is in direct proportion to the amount of labor required to accommodate your needs.

For this reason we need to understand your specific requirements in order to give you a quotation but in general due to our extensive experience and existing development infrastructure we get better results faster so working with us will generally cost you less than developing a solution with an in-house engineering team or someone else who is less familiar with the technology.

The beauty of this open source stuff is that you are free to choose to work with anyone you want. There is no vendor lock-in.

True open source base distribution

We build appliances based on either the Ubuntu or Debian Linux distributions, in which over 23,000 open source packages are free for both commercial and non-commercial uses, including updates.

This not only frees you from the risk of vendor lock-in, but can also translate into dramatic cost reductions over the lifetime of an appliance.

Example commercial applications

  • Hosting providers: Increase the value of your hosting services by providing clients with ready-to-use servers that will get them up and running in no time.

  • ISVs: Reduce development costs and time to market, assist sales by making a product easier to demo, evaluate and deploy on-site.

  • VARs (e.g., solution providers/resellers, system integrators): Improve implementation efficiencies by leveraging pre-integration of common elements to reduce the potential for human error and the quantity and quality of labor required to provide a solution.

  • OEMs: Why sell bland commodity hardware when you can differentiate from competitors and add value by selling purpose built hardware appliances instead?

  • IT departments: Increase agility and cut costs by improving deployment efficiencies of custom desktop and server solutions in your organization.
