New VMWare LAMP VM cannot connect to web services from host after install.

I downloaded the LAMP VM for VMWare, powered it up and went through the initial configuration giving the IP stack a static IP address.

I can ping the VM and get a response and when I hit the root web I get a 404 response from the web server. What steps can I take to resolve this? All the install videos and stuff get right in to the web interfaces so I was not able to pick up anything from those to resolve this.
