New Hub feature: Cloud server monitoring

Ladies and gentle geeks, I'm proud to announce we've just pushed out 100% free basic server monitoring to all TurnKey Hub accounts. This should make it easier to keep tabs on the health and performance of your cloud servers. Existing Hub users don't need to do anything to enjoy this new feature. It just works.

A better server dashboard

As you can see in the screenshot below, the server dashboard now includes thumbnail graphs of CPU utilization, disk IO and network traffic for the last hour:

Give me more!

Alright, so instead of the last hour, you want data on how your server was doing last night? Or last week? No problem. CloudWatch samples performance at 5 minute intervals, and stores up to two weeks worth of data.

Clicking on the thumbnail graph pops up a larger interactive graph that lets you zoom in and out, sample performance metrics ondifferent timescales (e.g., hourly, daily, weekly, etc.) and move back and forward in time:

No installation, monitoring agents required

You don't need to install or configure any monitoring agents, because the Hub pulls statistics directly from Amazon's CloudWatch API. CloudWatch in turn gets its data directly from the virtualized hardware layer running underneath your server's operating system.

Nice one guys. Nothing like a bit of value adding to an already great product!

Thanks Jeremy! We're using the Hub for all our cloud deployments, so when a feature is lacking or something doesn't quite work right I talk it over with Alon and we figure out how to make things better.

A couple of weeks ago it was... "wouldn't it be great if the Hub plugged into the CloudWatch API to give us embedded monitoring?"

Love it!

It just keeps getting better!

I am so impressed all my sentences will have exclamations after them!

Kudos for supporting AWS Free tier...! I'll try it tonight itself.

This interface could be really useful, I cant wait to try out your service. We are presently hosting a moodle appliance with netrack for one of our clients. It would be interesting to do a head to head comparison with feature and price.

A simple review on Turnkey

I've just started a Tkey WP instance few days back, the monitoring is really helpful, instead of paying hefty amt to someone to monitor our server. Turnkey linux is really going great on the features.

I strongly miss popular combinations like LNMP, mix and match of App's like Nginx, Node.js, Tomcat in same appliance, looking forward with those features.

We have been seriously shopping for the last 2 months to find a right Stack for a Drupal Commons based project. We almost narrowed down to use Turnkey LAMP and HUB.

All the services are looking too good. I can't believe these are free tools.

We are just wondering will there be any costs down the road. We are a small company and no problem to pay few bucks per month. Our only fear is about risk of migration efforts if Turnkey comes up with a high service charge model in the next few months.

Please see if you could shed some light about the pricing plans down the road (year or two).

Am I reading .007 per hour in that screenshot there?  Non reserved is .025.  Does it drop so much or is that an amazon test cost on the backend?
