Installation Video Mode Change

Hi, I'm trying to install the LAMP server onto a Lenovo PC but it seems to set some strange video mode that I can't see on my monitor. The monitor is very old and I can't afford to replace it just for installation / occasional console access. The 11.2 ISO image boots fine from the USB stick, I select the option to install and it starts for a few seconds displaying normal sized text, but then the screen seems to switch resolution so the text is so small its unreadable... I have looked around at boot options and tried vga=771 and vga=normal as part of the install string, but it still switches mode. I'm happy with a straight text only mode for this console - all config will be via Webmin / SSH. Any ideas? Cheers
