AFAIK, once it's gone it's gone. So if you had no backups then sorry to say I think the party is over.
Unless you had EBS backed instance (ie either a micro instance or manually configured EBS) then once the instance is turned off (or rebooted etc) then the data is gone.
Sorry I didn't have any better news for you. For future reference, TKLBAM is really easy to use and will take care of backups easily, although obviously it pays to check them regularly to make sure the backup will work when you need it.
