I have been trying to upgrade by hand to the latest MySQL release of 5.1.56 of the MySQL appliance but crash and burn each time.  I have the 11.1 appliance that is running 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.8.

I really need to get up to 5.1.43 so that I can do partitioning on a timestamp column.

Any help appreciated.

I just had a quick look online and assume that you are trying this using the 32-bit binary tarball from here. Is that right?

Perhaps detail the exact steps you have tried and what problems you are having (eg specific error messages etc) and I can help you troubleshoot.
