I just signed in at www.vr.org , and created a Moodle appliance.

I was able to create it, Open the Browser (Firefox), and update my (admin), profile.and save it.

On trying to create a new course, I get the message:

"Error reading from database". On trying other options, I was able toadd a course, and edit/create the News Activity.

On trying to acces it, I get this error message:

Error: Database connection failed

It is possible that the database is overloaded or otherwise not running properly.

The site administrator should also check that the database details have been correctly specified in config.php

But have used the Moodle appliance (as an OVZ on Proxmox as well as installing via ISO) and have not experienced this issue.

Not knowing how the provider do their images I can't be sure, but perhaps you need to run the firstboot scripts? How did you set your root password etc?
