If anybody has any suggestions or information on what could be causing this  please let me know.

I have moved and set up our site.  for several days it work great even under load of switching the A records to the new server from the shared hosting it is on now. A records were moved back after site slowed to almost a halt with no load showing to cpu or memory or users  but before changing name servers and completing the move, I feel the config on the new server should be correct.  snagadeal.net  would be the name of our site to see how the site is currently running on shared hosting  and is a mirror image.

I tried your link and the initial page loaded as you'd expect, but any link within that just sits there loading but doesn't seem to time out at all! Very strange! Then for kicks I refreshed the main page and it got stuck half way "Waiting for 98.197.132.231..." (but it did eventually load). I could not get any other page to load but as yet no time out!?

I'd definately check all the logs for errors and also might be worth seeing what processes are running and what they're up to while its stalled. There is obviously a bug or something there somewhere as surely that hardware should breeze through even a fairly heavy load.

Thanks Jed for the interest.  Here are some of the logs maybe you can see some errors

let me know if any other logs could be helpful. The database is large, let me know if there are any changes to stock database to deal with the size.

Sorry if I gave you the impression that I would be able to interpret your logs for you.

I can't see anything obvious but that doesn't really mean anything! If there were anything obvious to me, you would've probably seen it yourself! But until we get someone who knows what they're doing to help you out

Having said that, the apache log would be worth looking at as it may contain an obvious error. Acording to my search online it should be /var/log/apache2/error.log but I don't currently have a TKL LAMP running (I am only serving intranet so am using lighttpd) so can't confirm whether TKL use the default or not. There should also be an access.log there too, which may be worth a look too. If there are no apache logs then double check logging is enabled in the apache2.conf file (/etc/apache2/apache2.conf by default).

Comparing events with timestamps (in access logs, error logs, etc) that match a point in time where the error/problem is occuring may help to pinpoint what may be happening.

Out of interest, have you run apt-get upgrade on this system? I'm not sure if its related but others were previously having problems with smilar TKL appliances after upgrading (I think it may be different though as you're not having the out of memory errors). Still it may be worth trying on a clean install if you can be bothered.

I have corrected this problem it was a plugin in the joomla program sef sitemap  pingback plugin we have had installed for a while.
