I've been trying to configure the mail relay settings on TK OpenVPN 14.2

Initially I attempted to use an internal mail server that doesn't require authentication. The system won't let me connect without entering authentication settings. But entering login and password gives the same error "could not connect wtih supplied parameters", despite me knowing these are correct.

The server transcript doesn't make any sense to me:

I then tried configuring via SendInBlue, but received the attached "Caught Exception"

I don't *think* I'm doing anything wrong as it's pretty basic. Am I or is there something not working correctly with the system?

 

Secondly, can I configure the e-mail relay via command line?

I haven't had any other reports, but I'll have to have a look when I get a chance. I did test it just before we released v14.2 and it was definitely working then. But it seems clear that it's not working for you.

TBH, I'm not that familiar with SMTP logs. But on face value, it looks like your server is just sending junk that the SMTP server can't understand.

I did a quick google and according to this a response of 500 is "A syntax error: the server couldn't recognise the command.". It goes on to say:

It may be caused by a bad interaction of the server with your firewall or antivirus. Read carefully their instructions to solve it.

(my emphasis) So the first thing I'd look at is your firewall, proxy and/or some other sort of gateway filtering. At least temporarily disable it/them.

If you can find the full smtp log, that might help too? It should be in /var/log somewhere.

Also we have a doc page for manually setting an smtp relay (predates the confconsole integration). So you can use that as a reference to check against what you have.

Hopefully that's some ideas to get you going... Please feel free to post back with any further info you have. I'm not an expert in the field of SMTP, but I know TurnKey pretty well and have been known to exhibit googlefu powers! :)
