It's not a live demo, but a 14 day trial, after with you get billed

Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback. Although personally, I consider them pretty much the same thing. You have 14 days to check out the system with no obligation to continue. If you don't like it, then you can cancel your account at any time.

If for some reason you are adverse to signing up to the Hub to test out TurnKey Linux, that's fine. You can simply download one of our ISOs or OVAs and install it as a VM. If you don't already have a virtualisation platform, there are a number of free options, such as VirtualBox. And if you are happy to continue self hosting, you can use it free forever, plus you can access our free support via the forums.

So I don't think it's fair to suggest that we aren't generous enough...

As I said, if potential costs are a problem, then download the ISO or OVA, etc and run locally. Then it will cost nothing and give you a good taste.

As for costs, you are right that there will be AWS costs associated, but for most of our appliances, a Micro size will be good enough to give it at least a basic test. If you're new to AWS, that is covered in the AWS free tier. Even if you're not new to AWS, then it will set you back about $3.50 (if you run it for the whole 14 days). Even if you use a Medium size server (the biggest you should need to test any of our appliances) and run that full time for the 14 days, it still shouldn't cost any more than ~$13.

Anyway, as I say, thanks for your feedback. Next time we refresh things, I might look at adjusting the wording to make it crystal clear...

I have a question regarding your answer:

Why there is no mention (or warning) about the potential cost's with the user would need to take to test Turnkey ?

As the side note: on AWS even free tier generated costs (with shouldn't happen)

I'm pretty sure that the Hub's pricing page covers all your concerns?! It even includes links to relevant AWS pricing pages so you can do the sums... I.e. click on "Storage Costs" (in the "TurnKey Backup" prices table) and/or "Monthly Fee" (in the "TurnKey Apps" prices table).

As the side note: on AWS even free tier generated costs (with shouldn't happen)

There is also an explicit note regarding the AWS Free Tier (the first point in the "Frequently Asked Questions" section below both of the pricing tables). It including links to the AWS FAQ which notes (and in turn links to) the Free Tier limits (i.e. what isn't free/how the free tier works, etc).
