Hello,
yesterday i started the first installation of the file server package and i have to say that this package is very nice. After installing and making the first tests, i wanted to install a new module:
the "lcdproc" addon to show system informations on a lcd display
I tried to use the APT manager, but while installing the module i get an error, that some dependencies are not installed.
Is here anyone, who have installed this package without problems and could give me some informations?
Regards,
hahni
Forum:
thats the failure message
dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of lcdproc: lcdproc depends on libg15daemon-client1; however: Package libg15daemon-client1 is not installed. lcdproc depends on libg15render1; however: Package libg15render1 is not installed. dpkg: error processing lcdproc (--configure): dependency problems - leaving unconfigured Errors were encountered while processing: lcdproc Reading package lists... Building dependency tree... Reading state information... lcdproc is already the newest version. You might want to run `apt-get -f install' to correct these: The following packages have unmet dependencies: lcdproc: Depends: libg15daemon-client1 but it is not going to be installed Depends: libg15render1 but it is not going to be installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt-get -f install' with no packages (or specify a solution)... install failed!Looks like you need to enable the Universe repo
I'm not familiar with that module, but a quick look on Ubuntu Package Search (scroll down to 'search package directories' > select 'lucid' from the distro drop down and click search) shows that the dependancy the install is complaining about should be available via the universe repository (see here - note '[universe]' after the title of the package).
So to enable that repo using the commandline (probably possible via Webmin but I don't know how OTTOMH):
And remove the '#' from the start of the lines that end in 'universe'; save and exit (<Ctrl><X>). Then update your package lists (apt-get update) and try again.
i will try it and quickly
i will try it and quickly wrote my feedback here. thanks a lot
