Hello

I'm trying to migrate an inhouse instance of Turnkey SUGARCRM to Gigatux VPS hosting, by restoring my latest backup from the new image.  However once restored it fails everytime with MYSQL not started.  Any ideas please.

It sounds like you are doing a TKLBAM restore is that correct?

If so, what is the Turnkey Appliance version you are trying to move and what type of hardware is it on and what TKL appliance version and type of hardware are you moving it to?

For example are you trying to take a v12 32bit Ubuntu based TKLX appliance and trying to restore it to a 64-bit v13 Debian Wheezy based appliance*

*Note: TKLBAM stores a delta against a base appliance. If you do a TKLBAM restore to a VM with the same base appliance (e.g. v12 Ubuntu 32 bit to v12 Ubuntu 32 bit) then the TKLBAM restore should work fine. If you are trying to simultaneously migrate and upgrade to the latest base appliance then a TKLBAM based restore is not guarenteed to work...it might...but it might not. TKLBAM is a backup restore solution not a magic software upgrader.

Thanks for that.  It is exactly as you suggest, Gigatux are only providing the v12 32bit Ubuntu appliance, whereas I am trying to restore from the newer 64-bit v13 Debian Wheezy based appliance.

Shame that an offical partner isn't using the newest version.

So they don't have 64 bit available? Although TBH ideally they should only be offering v13 regardless.

Thanks for reporting that. I'll try to sort out what is going on and why.

I got in touch with their support and they did update the appliance I needed to V13 very quickly.

This time my restore using TKLBAM worked flawlessly, as I hoped and I am all up and running.  Very impressed with how easy the restore process actually was.

Would have saved me a week of head scratching though, had Gigatux provided the V13 appliance in the first place.

Thanks for your help

I got in touch with GigaTux too and they said they were just in the process of upgrading everything... Not sure whether it was coincidental or whether you prompted them. They did say that they have been really busy...

Regardless, thanks for posting. And good work Tim for picking it!

I've almost re-skilled to the point where I can start to contribute technically to the community...for now it's support and strategy. My clients and I get a lot from TKLX. It is only fair, in the spirit of open source communities, to contribute back.

Thanks for the recognition Jeremy. And, as always, thanks for being there to help people through the TKLX journey.

Cheers,
