Hey All,

I am currently trying to load Turnkey Joomla onto a WIndows 2012 R2 Datacebter server with Hyper-V. I downloaded the .vmdk and converted it to a .vhd. I used a built in tool on Windows server 2012 to convert the .vhd to a .vhdx that I attached to the newly created Virtual Machine. I also disabled secure boot which is recommned when using Linux on Hyper-V. Here is the error I get on boot:

Boot Failed. EFI SCSI Device.
PXE Network Boot using IPv4
.....
  Station IP address is 192.168.xxx.xx

  PXE-E16: No offer received
Boot Failed. EFI Network
No Operating System was loaded. Press a key to retry the boot sequence...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time trying to get this to work.

Thanks

-DC

I have never used it and don't have access to it to test...

FWIW TurnKey v13.0 is based on Debian Wheezy (aka Debian 7) which I thought should just work OOTB. Perhaps it's worth trying to create a new VM from scratch installing from the ISO (instead of the pre-built VM for VMware/VirtualBox?

Hang on... I just did a real quick google (for "Boot Failed. EFI SCSI Device.") and the first answer that came up suggests that with Server 2012R2 you need to make sure that you are using a Gen 1 VM; apparently the latest Gen 2 VMs will only work with Windows as the guest (hence your error). Also FYI we are currently working on a new batch of appliances with all updated software. We don't have a firm ETA yet but should be soon...

Jeremy,

Thanks for your response, I did end up using a GEN 1 VM after several hours of trying to get a GEN 2 to work. I thought I had read that Linux would work under GEN 2, oh well, we are up and working.

Thanks again!

That will no doubt be very useful info for other Hyper-V TurnKey users. Thanks for posting! :)
