How do I use TurnKey appliances? (e.g., TurnKey Ruby on Rails) [SOLVED]

Forum:

I have tried downloading and installed the Ruby on Rails Web framework from this link: http://www.turnkeylinux.org/appliances/rails

I am using Ubuntu 8.10.

After downloading and burning the ISO image to a CD. I rebooted and installed from the Live CD. Everything seemed to be fine. It installed successfully.

But now I can not see any thing in the newly installed operating system. It went into configuration that shows my localhost as 192.168.2.2 and other two addresses.

Cannot boot LAMP Appliance on VirtualBox 2.06 AMD64 running on Vista X64 / AMD Phenom x3 (SOLVED)

Forum:

As the subject says.

If I have AMD-V enabled in VirtualBox, I get a Kernel Panic. If I disable AMD-V, it hangs after ACPI setup and CPU detection. Last message is SMP motherboard not detected. I have tried all combinations of ACPI settings available in the VirtualBox GUI.

I also tried other images that I had availabe (SMS Live, Xen Server, DSL). Only DSL works. All others hang regardless of AMD-V setting. So it's a mixed bag and I don't really know what's wrong.

bug: confconsole not saving the default route when configuring a static IP

Forum:

After installing the latest Turnkey MediaWiki on a virtual machine in VMware, I found that new system could not reach any other network. The routing table had a single entry for the host network (10.10.90.0 for example) but there was no default route. Adding a route for 0.0.0.0 corrected the problem and allowed the host to retreive updates.

I guess I'm not sure if the sparse routing table is there by design of if something is missing in the instal.

How to customize TurnKey Joomla: update Joomla, add a WYSIWYG editor, and a desktop with a browser and...

Forum:

Hi everyone,

I'm so glad I found Turnkey Linux, it's great!

Being a recent Windows convert, I've suffered through many weeks of frustration trying to get Joomla and Drupal installed on my personal server--Ubuntu 8.04.

TurnKey Joomla15 saved my day! It is going on my intra-net. Now I need to learn how to add some user-friendliness with a WYSIWYG editor, browser, and Drupal 6.6, etc.

Can someone help point the way?

Getting TurnKey to work with broadcom 43XX wireless hardware

Forum:

I'm sorry there's always one and this time it's me.

I'd like to get wireless working on my noisy server so that I can put it in the garage.  I tried apt-get install b43-fwcutter as root which downloads and gets the driver, extracts the legacy driver then fails (see below).

Partition editor seems to be missing options

Forum:

I am trying to install the MediaWiki version.  I wanted to do a manual partition scheme.

The partition editor seems to be missing options.  When ever I select an existing parition, it won't allow me to edit the partition.  I always get the same erro, "no root file system selected".

In past installs of various Ubuntu versions I recall more choices during the partition editor.  Normally I can choose mount point, create partition, delete, etc.

Is Turnkey only set up to use the entire disk?  No manual paritioning allowed?

Trouble connecting to an appliance hosted in a VirtualBox VM (SOLVED)

Forum:

I just installed turnkey-mediawiki-2008.10.29-hardy-x86 in a VirtualBox machine.  The console says to go to http://10.0.2.15, but there is no response.  The host is Hardy Heron.

How can I find the problem?

I also have this turnkey-mediawiki-2008.10.29-hardy-x86 installed on a VMWare machine with a winXP host.  It is working fine.

So I suppose there is a problem with either VirtualBox or the Hardy host.
