There's not much info about on Mambo still online these days. My searching online turned up very little. Really there were only a few vaguely relevant results and nothing that provided any documentation.

But in some respects, that's probably not a huge surprise. It's pretty old software and in all honesty, I could not recommend that you start a new site with it. Actually, prompted by your post, I have just unpublished the Mambo appliance page. It's not compatible with current versions of PHP and we have deprecated it and we won't be releasing a new (v16.0) appliance.

So I would recommend that you have a look at other current CMS (content management systems). The most popular being WordPress, with Joomla and Drupal also quite popular options. Incidentally, Joomla was forked from Mambo! We also have a number of other CMS appliances that might be worth at least a look, such as TYPO3, b2evolution, XOOPS, Plone, SilverStripe, e107 and Concrete5 among other more general products that still fit into the "content management" category. Any of these projects would be a better option than Mambo and all should have decent docs.
