First Hub Instance Issue

Forum:
Used tklbam to restore a backed up server to the EC2. All works fine except for WebMin and Shell in a Box. The WebMin asked me to log in and I got a 'dont have access to any modules' message. Did a restart adn it never worked again. Same with Shell in a Box Only difference in the original backup was WebMin was listening on a non-standard port. I did open the firewall and try to use that port but no go. I checked the webmin.acl file and it shows that I have access to everything. Any ideas?

tklbam not restoring symbolic links as links?

Forum:

I am having a new problem that seems to have appeared sometime in the last few weeks as I do not recall running into this the last time I was working on my project in late October. When restoring from tklbam backup symbolic links are being converted into unlinked files. That is not the worst problem. If the target of the link does not yet exist, then the link/file is not restored! This appears in /var/log/tklbam-restore as something like:

Finding Backup & Downloading from AWS to Desktop

Forum:

I can see my backups here - https://hub.turnkeylinux.org/backups/

But not sure where they are going to in S3.  I think I should be able to see them here https://console.aws.amazon.com/s3/home but don't know what the bucket name would be.

Ultimately I want a way to pull down an instance from a backup and store it locally.  I might even want to burn it onto a DVD for old time sake.

So is this possible within the Hub?

Upgrades From the Command Line Looses Hub Server Control

Forum:

I'm poking Turnkey to see if I can make it meet my needs. Ran into a few small problems from the command line.  Ultimately, I wanted to try using Turnkey like I would any other Linux distro & install things from the command line.

Sadly, in doing this I lost access to my site.  I could ssh into example.tklapp.com before the upgrade as well as webmin from https://example.tklapp.com:12321

Turnkey for Stand Alone, Xen, VirtualBox & EC2 Servers?

Forum:

I want to consolidate things more and streamline our implementations.  Ideally we'd be able to have a single base install which we could use on different frameworks.  We've got a bunch of customizations that we do (nothing too deep mind you), but I'd really like to have an implementation that we can customize & deploy where we want and when we want it.

I don't want to have to start from scratch each time.  With cloud servers it's especially important to be able to clone deploy instances.

launch hub server with DNS A record for custom domain name only

Forum:

I have a small request. I would like to launch a server on the Hub using my custom DNS domain meltymedia.net, but I want it to add an A record for just meltymedia.net - no hostname - so the server can respond when people use only "meltymedia.net." However, of course, if I leave the hostname field blank in the launch-server form, it does not add an A record.

Cheapest Turnkey Linux option on Amazon EC2?

Forum:

I'm actually running a micro instance with the Amazon free tier, and now that the final Turnkey pricings have been defined I'm a bit puzzled on which would be the cheapest solution for me - or if there is any option left that could be defined cheap at this point.

I just need a low traffic LAMP server, mainly for personal use and for demo'ing web sites to clients, so the Micro instance is more than enough.

Issues with uTorrent Server on the Torrent Appliance

Forum:

Hi,

I was having issues seeding torrents with MLDonkey in the Torrent Appliance, so I thought I'd try uTorrent Server. But no cookie! I have tried running the uTorrent Server from both a non-root user as well as root. The server starts successfully, but I get nothing on the default uTorrent webUI port <IP-address>:8080/gui

Oh, and this is atop the Torrent Appliance, in case that has any bearings on the issue.

Any suggestions/pointers would be appreciated.

Cheers!

R6: What's going on with Webmin...?

Forum:

Round Six:

1. Trashed everything

2. Installed TKL-LAMP to bare metal via Unetbootin LiveUSB

3. Added Drew as a user

4. Installed Samba via apt-get in Webmin

5. Went to Webmin modules and tried to install webmin-samba. Boom! Only works under webmin 1.570

6. Went all CLI all over that: apt-get install webmin-samba
