Are the default values in the "Linux Firewall" section good for production use?

To enable the Firewall, do you only have to switch "Activate at Boot" to "Yes" then reboot the system? I've been trying to find more information on this here but have not been able to turn up much.

I am trying to find a way to add rewrite rules. I enabled by doing

a2enmod rewrite

I am adding below rules to httpd.conf but no effect. I am not sure what else need to added to make mod_rewrite to work. Please advise.

I have tired installing OwnCloud ISO three different times. The Desktop Client Sync apps do not work with it. 

I updated the owncloud install to 4.0.7, Still did not work.

Eventually reinstalled with turnkey lamp and installed owncloud manually. Client apps worked.

Please check over the owncloud disk.

I just restarted my server after installing some stuff, and the dynamic DNS url I was given when I originally launched the site is no longer pointing to the server!

When I visit the URL I get a page that says "the site you are currently looking for is no longer available".

When I enter the server's IP, the site loads up fine.

Is there a command I need to execute after restarting to re-connect the dynamic DNS?

I downloaded the latest Fileserver appliance the other day (September 12, 2012) and installed it.  When I try uploading files using the Ajaxplorer, the small upload window shows an upload limit of 16 M.

1) I have tried editing /etc/php5/cgi/php.ini, changing the post_max_size and upload_max_size values.  Doesn't work.

2) I read the documentation on Ajaxplorer and it tells me that it is not a limit imposed by it but PHP.

3) I have edited _every_ file with the name php.ini in it and still nothing.

So.. I'm being hired for the first time to create a website and I'm being asked how much to charge... So since it is family I was straigth forward domain name 15$ and hosting 50-70$ a year. Now I'm trying to understand if it's better to use amazon ec2 or hostgator to host a simple website. When I googled this people were complaining that their sites were being taken down when they hosted videos and their sites used too much cpu. I guess my question is why not post the video in youtube :P 

Question one:

Should I be messing with upgrading Gitlab myself, or should i just wait for TKL to do this for me? 

And if the answer to that is yes, then how do i go about upgrading...
I have some problems following the instructions posted on the gitlab site:

When uploading a file name with Chinese, owncloud only shows the extension name.

as the attached file

The md5 and sha1 checksums in the turnkey-lapp-12.0-squeeze-x86.iso.sig do not match those generated for the turnkey-lapp-12.0-squeeze-x86.iso file.

I've just downloaded the LAMP OVF to play with it. When I try to deploy it through vSphere, I get an error message stating:

The specified operating system identifier " (id: 95) is not supported on the selected host. It will be mapped to the following OS identifier: 'Other Linux (32-bit)'.

I've tried setting up a blank VM, exporting an OVF to compare the two files. From what I can tell, the two OS identifier fields are identical.
