NTFS access rights/permissions

Forum:

Linux, samba and NTFS amateur here. The context is a TKL home fileserver for Windows PCs, which is also a music server via UPnP/DLNA. Only one user (me), not bothered about high security, no web server, very simple, trying to avoid learning and using linux CLI, so Webmin if possible. Well, I got the music server stuff working fine, using an external USB disk in FAT32. I could even edit the data from a Windows PC, after I set the Security and Access Control>Writable? to Yes (in Webmin).

Borked Webmin

Forum:

So, I've been a silly boy and tried updating webmin from within itself. This resulted in it being completely broken.

So I ran these commands at it now responds on port 10000 (previously 12321)

apt-get remove webmin
apt-get update
apt-get install webmin

However now the interface looks like 1990 and when I try an update it from 1.831 to 1.840, I get a mess of buttons no matter which web browser I use. I then have to remove webmin and install it again.

Config Console Crash

Forum:
Attached:

New implementation of TKL Fileserver. Sometimes when I reboot, the Config Console which comes up on the main monitor, starts to break up and dsiplay more console commands (see attached .jpg). This doesn't seem to be causing any malfunction, as far as I can see, but it doesn't look right. Any comments welcome.
Marmite.
