Indefinite restore time to hub Amazon instance

Forum:

So, needed to restore a 100k file from yesterday's nightly tklbam.

Disk space is a bit tight locally, the backup image is 400Gb, and duplicity seems to want to go back to the previous full backup and work it's way forward to the target file.

So, restore to Amazon server instance seems like a good idea. Couple of clicks and it's on it's way.

12 days later, it's still going...

https://hub.turnkeylinux.org/servers/ dashboard says "Restoring backup...     (spinner)"

It seems MediaWiki Turnkey disapeared, it used to be at https://www.turnkeylinux.org/mediawiki. Is this a choice or a mistake ?

Thanks for your great work, I like Turnkey a lot.

Regards,

Pierre

Ejabberd SSL

Forum:

Hy! I am using turnkey ejabberd on Amazon AWS. When connecting to the chat server from my client app I get an exception. It only occures if I try using SSL(TLS).

Could somebody give me some info about the default SSL certificate used by Turnkey? Who is it signed by etc. ? My client side might reject invalid or unknown signiture certificats.

DynDNS Standard DNS or Managed DNS Express

Forum:
Hi Can anyone tell me what is the easiest to setup with DynDNS and an Odoo appliance, Standard DNS or Managed DNS Express? I use the non TLD hostnames addresses for testing but have my own production site to go live and want to keep both the registered TLD and the dyn non TLD hostnames addresses for testing but do not want the production site to interfere.

Getting the mailserver to work in the Turkey WordPress Appliance

Forum:

Hello all,

I'm running a TurnKey WordPress Appliance from my home. It runs inside a fast MacBook Pro with 16 Gb RAM and a 512 Gb SSD. I'm happy with the speed of the WordPress pages being served (after a lot of optimization of the Caching and a Bash script to get and keep all my pages cached.

I now would like to get the PostFix mailserver to work for me. As usual my ISP is blocking port 25 so I guess I need a workaround for this. To my knowledge there should be 2 solutions:

1. Using a relay Server. I read somewhere that gmail could be used for this.

Attempting to join XP Pro running in VM to Turnkey domain but getting "DNS Name does not exist error"

Forum:

Trying to test out Turnkey so set up turnkey machine on a machine on the network. Running a copy of XP Pro in a virtual machine on a Windows 10 machine.. VM network is bridged and confirmed that Turnkey machines IP address is pingable in XP. All XP's network setting are at their factory defaults. Turnkey domain name (workgroup name) is Domain. When I try to join XP to it I get a "DNS Name does not exist" related error. Not sure what I am missing. In Webadmin under Windows Networking Options the Workgroup is Domain. Tried WINS Mode as both Neither and as Be a WINS Server.

apt mirror instance

Forum:

I am getting more and more TKLcontainers, and getting every container access to internet is a problem.

so I am thinking about setting up an TKL core container which should mirror the security updates of TKL and Debian, so that all TKL instances can retrieve the security updates from that instance instead of the internet

Anybody got any experience in howto set this up ?

thx

Hans

tklbam-restore sts agent error

Forum:

Run tklbam-backup every night, works well.

apt-get -s install tklbam
tklbam is already the newest version

Asked to restore a file today, because the managing director over-wrote a template by mistake.

Run the following restore command

tklbam-restore 6 --simulate --skip-packages --skip-database --limits="/srv/Templates/Bob/ACD.docx" --time=2017-03-23 --logfile=/var/log/tklbam-restore

Should be straight forward?
