Is there some kind of known issue with the Debian Jessie configuration used in the Turnkey appliances that prevent them from properly registering DNS with dnsmasq?

For example, my router runs dnsmasq and provices both DHCP and local DNS resolution services for my network.  All of my non-Debian Jessie clients (Ubuntu, Windows, Alpine, etc.) all properly register their hostnames when they request a DHCP lease.

But none of the Debian Jessie clients do, including V 14.2 of Turnkey Core that I just downloaded last night and loaded up in KVM.

I would like to know if the TKL core package (14.2- LAMP Stack) has all or most of the most common default drivers. I'm using Clonezilla to make onsite complete image backups and it would be good to know if a restore of one of those images would work on dissimilar hardware. The Clonezilla FAQ's say this about the question of installation of an image on dissimilar hardware:

The internal HDD of the Torrent Server OVA image is just 20 GB, is there a way how to increase it ? I tried to add an extra HD (in virtual box -> Settings -> Storage ->  Add Hard disk) but it does not see it (not even with the command fdisk -l) when the machine is started.

How can i download teh cisco VPN client on turnkey linux? I have the isntallaion files ready but not sure about the command to use for setup. I am new to linux so trying to see what i can do with it. Any help will be appreciated. 

I understand that turnkey linux is not the same as normal linux, so installing the VPN client software is a little more complicated than i expected. Looking forward for any replies.

We have our webserver installed on the turnkey linux and we use codeigniter framework for php.

We have installed the debian linux server on our server and now want to transer from turnkey. Can anyone guide with the procedure to transfer codeigniter and other apps if any to debian? How does it work? do i just copy files or is there an official image file setup that needs to be done?

I have a Windows File Server joined to AD. Currently, users are storing data in this Fileserver.

I am planning to migrate Data from Windows to Ubuntu File Server.

I have installed Ubuntu 16.06 and joined to AD successfully and configured SMB.

My challenge is how to migrate data using to Ubuntu FileServer preserving timestamp, permissions and ownership.

Is there any way or script which does like creating block in smb.conf for share and execute necessary permissions on directory which is part of Migration
