after switching my (Redmine) VM to bridged internet modus (in order to make it accessible to other computers in the network), emails won't come through.
Since working with email notification is desired, I would like to fix this.
I found some posts here on email not being sent, but I guess I missed the ones describing what I need to do to get it fixed.
I'm new to TKL, after following the project from a distance for about a year. I'm working on a web app stack that, unlike the current crop of appliances, includes quite a few packages. Rather than a utility appliance, it is meant to be a cluster node.
Anyway, I'm curious if it is possible to install a TKL iso (which I'll get by using tkpatch) on a random VPS host? I know VPS.net and other hosts have a library of appliances that you can install, but this is a custom appliance and I'm looking for the flexibility of installing it on ANY VPS.
First i have to say that your appliances are really great. Thank you for this!
I have little troubles with the lampp appliance. i try to configure the apache2 to send all mails over our inhouse mailserver, who dont needs any authentification or something.
When i change the sendmail_path in the php.ini file to /etc/sbin/sendmail -t -i and the SMTP to 192.168.x.x it dont works.
I use the stable core in an amazon instance. I have set up a cronjob:
5 * * * * /usr/bin/tklbam-backup
but the backup is not perfomed. In /var/log/tklbam.log, I see the following message:
##########################
## FIXCLOCK HOOK FAILED ##

Amazon S3 and Duplicity need a UTC synchronized clock so we invoked the
following command:
ntpdate -u pool.ntp.org
Unfortunately, something went wrong...
sh: ntpdate: not found
I have just started experimenting with the Turnkey hub and I have a question about what's the best way to quickly restore an instance.
I only want to run my instances while I'm using them so I'm interested in figuring out the fastest way to create new instances and restore backups to them.
Just installed the lucid samba appliance as a bare metal install ( my virtual machine knowlede using virtualbox produced too slow a result...). Its working well.
I wrote a simple bash script to do a nightly back up and email me the output, after installing mutt and msmtp to the appliance (by the way msmtp appears by far the easiest MTA to install and configure for simple tasks like this).
tklbam-backup | mutt -s "Daily Backup Report" <my email> is the key line in the script
The script is owned by root and has rwx permissions.
I've been experimenting with Proxmox VE, and I've installed the Turnkey domain controller (Hardy version) as an OVZ container. Normally I use Virtual box, and after importing the appliance I start it, it shows me the configuration menu, and away I go.
With PVE, it doesn't seem so simple. While it's running, I open the console of the appliance and all I get is:
