I have a client with the following appliances running on VMware:

lamp - debian 9.13, turnkey-lamp-14.2-jessie-amd64
observium - debian 9.13, turnkey-observium-15.0-stretch-amd64
wordpress - debian 10.7, turnkey-wordpress-16.0-buster-amd64
nextcloud - debian 10.7, turnkey-nextcloud-15.2

They have been neglected due to lack of client Linux skills.

They have asked me to resolve, but when I try to update with apt-get, this fails due to the appliances being so old.

Hello! WordPress seems to be continuing its march toward higher versions of PHP. I now have one plugin that I cannot update since it requires PHP 7.4. I do not want to risk breaking my otherwise functional installation, so if there is an officially sanctioned way to update the PHP version safely, I would appreciate learning about it!

I have deployed the Wordpress TKL as a VM on VMware. Works great since a long time.

Now I see the free space becoming too low after some years due to all media inside Wordpress.

What do I need to do to grow the capacity of the TKL VM appliance? On VMware side I have grown the size of the VMDK file but what do I need to do to grow the space inside Linux?

I can publish without problems, add files and share the links. I can also delete the links without any problem, but when I delete them the files are still stored on the server...

How can I delete the files to recover that space? Thank you

Well, when I turned on the virtual machine, Debian GNU/Linux 10 wordpress tty1 asked me for a "wordpress login: " - I tried many different logins, but I can't (e.g. admin, root [with no password]) - can you help me with that? Hope all is well. It's been a while since I have booked a support query. I just completed a AWS EC2 TKLX14.1 Jessie server root disk resize (from 10GB to 20GB). That all seemed to go as planned and df -h shows the correct disk size.

When I SSH into the server though the initial display of the MOTD shows incorrect "Usage of" for the disk. The disk size and the usage amount is understated.

I took a quick look at the MOTD script but it seems to be a bit of a rats nest of sub-calls.

Any quick fix pointers?

I am playing around with upgrading a turnkey appliance based on debian-buster to bullseye.

I changed the /etc/apt/sources... files to reference the bullseye repos and imported the GPG-keys for the turnkey bullseye repositories. But an apt-upgrade fails because file from the repository does not have the expected size (and Hash):

I get the following error: 

I have tried both the ISO and LXC on Proxmox which seem to install just fine. I can get to adminer and webmin.

I get to the Nextcloud logon page and am unable to logon using the password created during the installation.

What am I missing please?

 

Hi. How can I define, which keyboard layout is used right after installation of my custom appliance?

Especially when entering passwords, a wrong keyboard layout can be annoying.
