Changing Default Home Directories in Fileserver Appliance

Forum:
Tags:

I am trying to change to default Home directories when creating new users with no success. I've tried the ect/default/useradd file as well as looking in the smb.conf file witch says that another script file called /usr/sbin/useradd is controling it. I do not know enough about the useradd script to change it to get the results I'm looking for. I want to make the default home diretories /media/Raid1/home instead of /home so that all new users will have thier home directories created in subs of that dirertory named after the user. Can any one help?

Thanks

Running Gallery Appliance on Live CD doesn't work.

Forum:

I am trying to run Gallery on a live cd on a PC that is next to me. The LiveCD boots up fine, asks me for a bunch of usernames and passwords which is fine. But when I go to the ip address I simply get the message "Error" with no explaination. If I go in the backend at https://ip:12321/mysql/ I see the message MySQL is not running on your system - database list could not be retrieved.

I am assuming this is my issue. I click start MySql but to no avail. Can anybody verify or assist. Thank you.

Additional substitution variables in confconsole

Forum:

I took a look at the confconsole code to determine what variables allow substitution, and the only one that seems implemented is the $ipaddr variable.

It would be nice if we could also use $hostname (to display whatever 'hostname' returned).

What's the best way to submit an enhancement request, or can I submit the change myself?

Two queries for missing volumes and startup beep

Forum:

Hello All,

I am running "turnkey-fileserver-11.2-lucid-x86" on a headless (without display and input) machine acting a network file server using SAMBA. I have two queries at the moment.

1. It usually happens that I restart fileserver via the Webmin interface, however its a bit tricky sometimes to know when has it restarted and available again for operation, so as to resume any file operations again.

tklbam-restore: --limits question

Forum:

Hi, I have another question concerning tklbam-restore.

I tried the --limits option

tklbam-restore --limits="/home/path/to/python" 10

to get rid of some problems with my python installation. Looking at the temporary files, it seems it downloads everything again and will take a long time to replace this particular directory. I know tklbam is not meant as a file-level backup tool, but I want to make sure I did everything right:

tklbam-restore: takes forever

Forum:
Hi, I just had the special moment where TKLBAM comes to the rescue - my home directory with all the data was erased for whatever fricking reason... now I simply do
tklbam-restore --limits="/home" 10
and I see it downloads stuff into /tmp/tklbam... - actually all files are there. But nothing has happened for a long time now, the process is still running...
