I must say, Turnkey linux is amazing. For someone who wants to be on top of things server-wise, learning linux is key, and well, having access to software that works the first time around helps a whole let and makes troubleshooting a little less of a headache.
And to help you with with "future" appliances , I offer these three suggestions.
I like the overall idea here. It reminds me of the Gibralter (router/VPN) "appliance on a CD" (which I had deployed at a set of customer sites for a few years). Unfortunately the free versions of Gibralter weren't well maintained (I don't know if they even still exist).
Very lean and useful appliances - thanks for putting them together, they do save time and effort.
My main suggestion was to include OpenSSL and setting all the web stuff (certainly with the install) to allow/require use https esp for the logins and sensitive information being sent across the net.
I know such things are not hard to do later but it is better practice to encrypt it and it would encourage that practice by having it as a default. I think the slight increase in size would be a fair sacrifice.
Came across this distro from a Slashdot post by one of your developers - looks cool!
This approach to making focused appliances really appeals to me, I like the thought of not wasting any clock cycles or memory on non-core tasks. Anyway, on to my question:
