I've just stumbled across TurnKey Linux, and it sounds great, but I have a basic question before getting deep into it. Is every appliance a full stack, including the OS, applications depended on, and the target application? For instance, I'm interested in MediaWiki. Do I install just the MediaWiki appliance, or do I need to install the LAMP appliance first? I see TurnKey Core is included in both appliances, so I assume each appliance is a full stack, but the MediaWiki appliance does not come out and say that. Thanks.
Test environment: WebServer 2008 OS, turnkey-lamp installed under VM-Workstation 6.5. The total install base, after this has been completed this and Virtualmin is just under 1.8Gigs, so it's a good idea to create a VM image file that is over this (4 Gigs, for example).
I would like to submit a request for a "virtulization appliance".
We wanted to build and deploy a server to a remote office. We decided to use VirtualBox to deploy the application. We also decided to use the Core ISO as the host OS for virtual box. This process was somewhat painful because of all the dependencies needed to install and run VirtualBox (hours instead of minutes).
The virtulization appliance would have all the dependencies resolved and automatically ready to receive it's first guest OS.
I've successfully installed VirtualMin on a fresh install of turnkey-lamp-2009.02-hardy-x86.iso on my testbox. Please feel free to give feedback on other problems that come up for you and maybe we can get a good FAQ entry for Turnkey!

I'm considering using the lamp-2009.02-hardy-x86 distro for a live web-server under VMWare/Windows Server 2008 64-bit. I just set it up on a test station and so far so good. The addition of Webmin is a HUGE help to all those people who aren't as comfortable with the command line as they should be. Great work!
My question is about stability. Is this considered "production ready" in terms of stability under these conditions? I know there are no guarantees here, but thought I'd ask!
I've been looking to evaluate Pentaho CE and thought this might be useful for anyone involved in a similar project - it looks like a great product but a little difficult to find all the information together so I thought I'd try and make some notes as I went along to help others embarking on a similar project.
