networking issues (ownCloud)

Forum:

Hi,

I've seen similar posts1, but not quite the same situation. I'm running iso/turnkey-owncloud-13.0-wheezy-i386.iso on a Dell Inspiron 8500. Owncloud is installed directly on the laptop's hd. Both eth0 and wlan0 do not appear to work using DHCP. Static IP configuration does not work either when set correctly. The laptop is plugged by ethernet to the router, which handles DHCP for the rest of the network (which all works).

Samba add group automatically

Forum:
Tags:

Dear All.

I have a file server. I installed the samba on it to store the document. See below for the security :

- group :

    + g1 : user1, user2,user3

    + g2 : user4, user5,user6

    + g3 : user1,user5

- folder :

   + folder A : set permission chmod 775   and  group chown root:g3

The problem is when the user1 modified a file in folder A then that file add the group g1 automatically. So the user2 can modify that file.

Quest : How to deny to add group automatically.

Thanks ALL.

Immediate Setup Steps to Secure a New Appliance?

Forum:

I am wondering what steps are needed to immediately secure a new appliance.?

I recently setup a test appliance via the Turnkey Hub and AWS and played around with it for a few hours. Pretty damn cool how easy it was to get something up and running! I got back into the server via PuTTY after the weekend and just happened to scroll back through my commands and noticed a bunch of commands that I had not entered in my testing.

Forum:

I've installed the fileserver appliance (13.0) to a server and am trying to do a backup to a locally mounted file location. I have the API entered and tklbam seemed to initialize OK.

When I run:

tklbam-backup --address file:///mnt/tklbam/backup

I promptly get this:

Is it possible to have KVM run inside a virtualized TKL core running on KVM?

Forum:

Hello TKL brains,

Perhaps this is a stupid question, but I will take the risk. I am running a TKL core virtualized under KVM. As I am trying to install KVM on this TKL machine I run into problems;

apt-get install kvm<return>

after many many lines we puke like so:

Use of Amazon storage

Forum:

I have a webserver running on a TurnkeyLinux LAMP stack.

I also have an account with JungleDisk for backup to the cloud.

I also have an account with Amazon AWS servces.

I want to stop using the JungleDisk backup. They tell me I must delete all my data, and suggest I might terminate my AWS account, if I don't use it now that JungleDisk won't be storing my backups there.

What I want to know is, does the LAMP stack server run on AWS space? and if so is it independent of my account with AWS, or dependent on it?

Error establishing a database connection

Forum:

My TurnKeyLinux installation [Debian 7.2 (wheezy)] WordPress installation keeps losing connection to the database.

If I reboot the server it will come back online for a few hours but then eventually loses the connection to the database again.

Error displayed on the url is "Error establishing a database connection"

I've already verified that all available updates for WordPress and plugins are installed

Running WordPress 3.9.2

Cant access to Webmin using Windows 7

Forum:

Hello! I just installed LAMP on VM, but when i tried to acces to webmin i got error "page not found". Then i found this page http://www.turnkeylinux.org/docs/domain-controller/quickstart where is said "Windows Home versions can't join a domain", and im using exactly Windows 7 Home version. So i must change my Windows to work with LAMP or there are other options to do it?
