I am a bit confused by the reserved instances.  What exactly do the utilization levels represent?  If I am running a low-medium traffic web-server 24/7 and the instance will never be powered down, does this mean I need the heavy?  Or is it actually based on CPU usage?  If its based on CPU usage, what is the cut-off for light/medium/heavy as I can not seem to find the answer looking at Amazons documentation.

Obviously it seems like if you are going to run something 24/7 it makes sense to do a reserved instance, I just want to make sure I choose the correct one.

Have a weird issue that i do not know where to start from on.  I am running the turnkey wordpress vm and its been soild for almost a year now, however in the last few months the website will go down and the only fix is to reboot the server. I can get to the webmin page no problem, its just the wordpress site that will not come up.

My question is where do i start in trouble shooting this.

I recently got an announcement from Amazon Web Services announcing the availability of a new kind of EC2 server instance called "T2".  It looks like a great configuration.  I don't see it in the dropdown for avaiable server types for TurnkeyLinuxHub.com.

Can you tell me if you have plans to make this an option for some/all of your appliances?

Can't seem to connect to the turnkey mySQL DB from a different amazon ec2 account. Security groups are set to allow all connections on port 3306. Any ideas here?

I've made Ubuntu Linux virtual appliances for internal use a few times, and I was looking at possibly using TKL for my next project, and maybe even come up with something I could post back here.  I've never used any of the TKL appliances before.  I just downloaded the core and started it in VirtualBox, but haven't spent much time with it yet.

NOTE: I'm documenting this here because I just spent a full work day trying to get Duo Security's OpenVPN two factor authentication plugin working in the TurnKey OpenVPN appliance... and Google was very little help. If someone else comes along trying the same setup, hopefully they will find this helpful.

I got my OpenVPN appliance up and running, generated a user certificate and installed it on my MacBook in Tunnelblick. Connected fine without any issues. Woohoo!

i have been using turnkey for almost a year and was doing some development that required a clone of my server, when i tried to launch from back up i get redirected to this link and it even says my service is activated already too. any help would be appreciated 

For a long time I've known that the default installation of MySQL leaves behind a test database and several extraneous user permissions.  I've always tried to remember to remove these using phpMyAdmin, but sometimes it's easy to forget.  As a result of the recent HeartBleed incident, I've been taking a closer look at security.  One of the things I discovered is that MySQL has included a script, mysql_secure_installation, which removes the test database and secures the server for production.

Losing my mind here. I've done this in the past with zero problems. Need to get this DB setup asap. I am able to connect to the web server instance with the same PEM file.
