i just elected to install a debian 7 64bit turnkey template via the webhost that i am presently using and hit a snag.
i want to connect to the server using a remote gui interface and i usually use x2go.
i connected to the server using putty and installed gnome - then added the key for x2goserver and installed x2goserver as usual.
when i connect to the server using x2goclient, the client just fails with no error message and i haven't found a useful log file for it yet. so i am stuck
Installed turnkey-wordpress-13.0-wheezy-amd64 from here. When run, it asked me to create passwords for everything, including Wordpress. I used "admin". But in login attempts, username/password admin/admin is invalid. Created two different VMs this way, same result.
Can you help?
Thanks!
Update: I since have tried entering a different password at setup but that doesn't work either. Is there a different default user besides admin? I also tried different settings for Network, to no avail. What am I doing wrong?!?
I just downloaded the turnkey-wordpress-13.0-wheezy-amd64.vmdk and added it to my Oracle VM VirtualBox manager. It went through its whole process of updating things on line, so the installation apparently went ok.
So it appears now that I have a Wheezy Linux appliance installed. So far so good.
When I rebooted it to start fresh and insure that things were ok, the first issue I ran into was that it asked for a user id when logging in. After several attempts, I decided to just try "root" (duh!) so now I can see things.
I though I would add a second CPU to the LAMP machine ( Dual Xeon e5405 / 2Ghz / 12mb ) but after installing the second CPU the machine wont boot - it hangs on the following line
[5.176585] smpboot cpu 3: start_ip = 99000
Remove the second CPU and the machine will boot normally. This is my first Linx machine and I am not certain of what I am doing ( obviously! ) - should I be editing the grub configuration to allow the second CPU as I have found this being mentioned on some forums.
I have a TKL-fileserver with firewall configured via webmin.
And rules are not applied after reboot. WORSE. Route everything kind of rule is applied by default. This is unacceptable! How did this happen?
Basically, I use TKL-fileserver as a simple DNS/NBT/DHCP/Proxy autoconfig in our lab. And as a redirector to some specific internet gateway, only for specified clients and ports.
But to my surprize, after rebooting, everyone got direct unrestricted access to the internet.
I created a USB key to boot from. When I get to the screen to pick "install on HDD" or "Live CD demo mode", choosing either option causes a window to pop up. Window is titled "Boot loader" and it says, "/casper/vmlinuz: file not found" and all I can do it click "OK". Nothing I do seems to make it get past this error.
I pulled the USB to another machine and verified that the file is on there in the correct directory. Anyone else have a problem installing this version?
I am new at using TurnKeyLinux which I must say is excellent.
I am experimenting with ASP .NET on Apache with Mod Mono (http://www.turnkeylinux.org/asp-net-apache) using the OpenStack image which I have succesfully uploaded to my Havana installation.
I'm using TKLDev 13 and have successfully made my first appliance (getting ready to do its first production deployment). However one last thing I want to look at is the kernel. Most of my deployments will be on VMware ESXi 5.x, however I am likely to have a couple on Hyper-V 2012 R2. I see TKLDev is installing kernel 3.2. I want to use a newer kernel for better Hyper-V support (at least 3.12 if possible).
