TKL Core for Raspberry Pi

Forum:

Well, I've learned a few things.

Linked is a TKLPatch to be applied to Raspbian (based on wheezy) to make a Raspberry Pi as much like Turnkey Linux 12.0 as I could pull off. I'll continue to work on it as feedback allows.

Network Management or Monitoring

Forum:

I misremembered. I thought there was a network monitoring solution in the huge 12.0 appliance library. I'm sorry if I'm missing it. I've been looking for something to monitor and management the ridiculous number of servers running in our laboratory. Some are mad science; others are kind of vital.

I came across observium, and it looked perfect for our needs, so I thought I'd take it for a spin with TKL LAMP.

how to connect to KVM hypervisor from remote machine without using libvirt (i.e. using original KVM commands only)?

Forum:

Hi,

I am a newbie in the area of KVM virtualization. Can anybody help how to connect to my KVM hypervisor from a remote machine without using LibVirt or any other third party library.  I have searched fro this but all teh results that i got was using libvirt or commands related to it. I am not allowed to use any third party library and need to take the backup of my KVM from remote machine.

Can anybody from the forum please help? Can you also tell me why a deamon is required in KVM when it is not required in VMware ESXI?

Multi-site Concrete5

Forum:

I'm trying to set up multi-site Concrete5

What works so far:

  • Proxmox server which routes several virtual servers (IP/port-based DNAT), including:
  • TKL LAMP proxy-server that forwards to a number of name-based virtual servers
  • TKL web-servers with various CMS's including Concrete5 and JOOMLA working nicely and independently
  • Multiple VirtualHosts in the Concrete5 web-server that land in different Concrete5 file trees

What doesn't work:

Am I getting crazy?

When I visit for example http://www.turnkeylinux.org/forum/general I can see many recent topics, for example 'tklpatch for SABnzbd, CouchPotato, and SickBeard' with 69 replies.

When I click on that topic I get sent to http://www.turnkeylinux.org/forum/general/20110901/tklpatch-sabnzbd-couc...

State of TurnKey from a users viewpoint

Forum:

For those of you about to read this, let me preface it by saying a few things:

  • I hope no-one takes offense to anything I say, I apologize in advance if that is not the case

  • I am a fan of the work being done by TKL, I use several of the appliances for personal use and will continue to do so

  • What I say here are personal opinions regarding what I consider to be the weaknesses of TKL as they exist today. There are, obviously, benefits as well but this post is focused on areas of opportunity.
