I'm using Pg 9.1 on the most recent LAPP TK. This is deployed via OpenVZ on a Proxmox server.
This will be given, along with other equipment, to a client. What I'm really curious of is ways of backing up the Pg database I can suggest/offer them, aside from TKLBAM — I don't want to use this because it needs to work on a closed network. The trick is, I'm fairly new to Linux and still associating myself it. I'm now trying to trudge into the area of creating local/remote backups on Linux systems, and especially how to do it in a scheduled form.
I'm really new to turnkey and I'm starting to set up a small project in the lamp virtual appliance of turnkey 12.
My goal is to create a internal web server for a small company. I set up everything and all is working fine (is been incredibly easy so far working with this great product). My problem now is that I need to set up a gmail account with postfix and I have no clue how is that possible, Is there a tutorial available on this site? Is there any dependency needed for postfix to work with gmail?
Just thought I'd share this cool looking daemon I just found for cpulimit (available from both Debian and Ubuntu repos). As some of you may know cpulimit allows you to limit the CPU utilisation of particular processes. That's all well and good if you wish to limit individual (high CPU usage) processes, but in a server environment (especially when running as a VM on a desktop or other shared resource scenario) you may wish to limit the CPU usage for the whole server (ie all processes).
I came across an article from Wired [1] explaining that an open source web app for voter registration in the US had been developed and released in the US. Seems like something that should have happened years ago. In any event, it's a Ruby on Rails app that demands 1.9.2 of Ruby [2]. This looked to me like a great opportunity to learn something new and take 12.0 and Debian for another spin.
Hi, I need to build a minimal debian image for a server and I'm willing to pay someone teach me how to do it and/or give you my requirements to do it.
Basically I just need an AWS vm Debian-based server tied to a user account fro the service website to automatically launch ssh and another package, run the install script on the package, run the install binary with the config file, and that is it.
Please message me with your work references on doing similar things and estimated cost of doing the job.
We are currently using the Wordpress appliance for our company and we are looking for some software to help us manage our trucking fleet. We have 10+ trucks and trailers (the trailers are dropped at sites and picked up when full) and we need someway to track locations of drops, status of DOT inspections, on-ste inspections, when licenses ned to be paid, etc.
