Untouched Fresh Install: Lamp, TurnKey Linux 11.3 / Ubuntu 10.04 Lucid LTS

I can not seem to get my script to output to a page. PHP is working and I have mod_rewrite on. I have scoured the web for an answer with no luck. So I just did a fresh install so I will be starting from scratch if I should obtain an answer here.

My .htaccess file located in:
/var/www/mywebsite.com
looks like this:

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
Options +Indexes
Options +FollowSymlinks

Hello all,

I've seen on other websites, when you visit a directory and list files (eg: http://snapshot.opera.com/unix/328_12.00-1406/), some of these pages have custom icons, CSS, HTML etc.

I've looked and looked and found nothing on this (mostly because, I'm not exactly sure what I should be looking for). How do I edit the CSS, HTML etc?

Currently the way the Joomla appliance is configured does not generate 404 errors if a wrong url is entered. 

This is problematic if you are replacing a site and Google has indexed many of the old url's  (google will drop the old url if it returns 404). 

Can someone please advise what changes to my .htaccess file would need to be done to correct this (or other changes)?

I have an issue where it seems the command "apt-get upgrade" hangs on udev. Couple of questions. Should I not be upgrading the packages? Does this conflict with some of the backup tools turnkey uses?

I have downloaded wamp stack from this website and installed wordpress. When i try to update the plugins wordpress is asking for

1) Hostname

2) Username

3) password

and gave option button for ftp and ftps

Can someone tell me what goes in these.....I guess username will be root and password will be what I first setup. But giving hostname "localhost" is not working. it says "Failed to connect to FTP Server 192.168.1.5:21"
