Redmine Appliance and HG

Forum:

I've started up the Redmine appliance, redmine loads up fine.

Now it's time to move my existing hg repository into the turnkey instance.  I don't see any way to create a new hg repo from the web interface, so I ssh in, cd to /srv/repos/hg, mkdir, and hg init MyProj.  At this point I can load http://192.168.150.176:8080/MyProj, so I'm almost in business.

I've been reading the instructions on the MediaWiki website for upgrading 1.15 to 1.16.  After doing what I thought was being said, I got the following error when I tried to test the wiki:

LocalSettings edit in MediaWiki

Forum:

I have the MediaWiki VM up and running and it's working great.  I thought I would start to edit some of the settings now to customize it for my use but when I can't seem to edit the LocalSettings.php.  I would assume that the gedit command would work but it doesn't.  I'm the first to admit that I have limited experince with Linux but I know I have used that command before.  Any thoughts?  Thanks.

build own LAMP

Forum:

Hi,

I love my LAMP VMs - but i REALLY want to run one on rackspace cloud. I have tried HUB and it's great but i cannot afford 50 bucks a month  - rackspaces' smallest instance is only 11 bucks a month.

How can i build the same ubuntu build as the LAMP VM to the exact. i.e apache myswl webmin etc.

I don't want to have to manually type every apt-get command. -  just wondering if there is a build / provisioning script already made?

Question on Security

Forum:
I'm not a complete noob to linux but don't have the skills as of yet to completely secure a world facing linux box. I came across the Moodle VM and was wondering could I use it on a world facing VM Server? I realize that asking if it is completely secure might be a bit foolish, but is this Moodle VM meant to be used "Worldly" or only on internally accessed sites? Thanks Rob

smbmachines UID bug in Domain Controller Appliance

Forum:

I've installed the Domain Controller Appliance in a virtual box and I am having an a problem getting one of my smbmachines to have the right UID.  In the users and groups panel, the user scannerserver$ has a unix ID of 1003.  However, in the edit samba user panel for scannerserver$ it has an id of 4294967295.  I've confirmed these results with "cat /etc/passwrd" and "sudo pdbedit -L" respectively.  I think pdbedit will allow me to change the id to the correct number, but I can't figure out how.  So I have two questions:

1) Will this problem cause me issues down the road?

NOOB with Tomcat Appliance

Forum:

Hello - first timer here.

I have successfully downloaded and installed the standalone Tomcat appliance. Running it in VMWare Fusion on an i7 iMac.

It boots fine - shows up with the "To administer this appliance..." message. However, when I go to the :8003 address specified, I get the Sign in page, but the default credentials shown on the webpage (admin/turnkey) aren't being accepted.

Is the server automatically started at bootup? I haven't been able to get a response from the standard :8080 port yet.

Thanks in advance,

TKL Patch Debian?

Forum:

Hi,

This may be a dumb question, but I wanted to try creating some patches for new appliances.  Is tklpatch compatible with Debian?  My servers are Ubuntu, but my work station is Debian.

Thanks.

Tony
