modify extplorer permssions on TKL Fileserver

Forum:

Hi guy!

How could I modify or add permission on extplorer in such a way that I can specify a user to be able to view and download files from his/her home directory but prohibit uploding of files.

Thanks in advance guys!

TKLBAM just saved me

Forum:

Well I have to hand it to you guys - TKLBAM just saved my butt when a VM weirded out on me and failed completely. I was writing a front end for a MySQL database and had not touched the project for a week. Upon returning I could not connect to my database and the console was stuck, reboots made it worse. I simply smiled, craeted a new image and restored my last backup and was coding again in less than 10 mins! It also helps me to create a database on a local machine and migrate it to a working environment giving me complete control and ease of access.

Cant thank you enough!

Scaling TurnKey up to 64GB of RAM (via PAE)

There's been some discussion on the forum regarding PAE (Physical Address Extension), which allows you access up to 64GB of memory.

Last night I came across a blog post by Phillip Bailey (developer of smooth-sec: IDS/IPS appliance based on TurnKey) where he explained the steps required to enable PAE.

In another thread some comments were made regarding how people use different freeware software and I am interested to see how people have solved problems using such software.

So here is my list

Injecting pressflow and varnish into Turnkey drupal 6

Forum:

I think turnkey drupal is a great solution. However, I'd like to replace the stock drupal 6 with pressflow and varnish. Anyone has done that? Are there plans for a turnkey for pressflow and varnish?

Thanks,

Any plans for Chiliproject ?

Forum:

Hi,

As redmine has been forked into Chiliproject, do you have any plans in producing a chiliproject appliance ?

Naming Conventions

Forum:

A general question I've asked myself lately.

Is TurkeyLinux a "linux distro" or just Ubuntu appliances?

The reason I ask is that when I rename template files for Proxmox, they require a special naming convention.

Just wondering what is the best way to name them.

TKL Community SourceForge downloads

Forum:

I have set up an unofficial TKL Community SourceForge project. It can be found here. My plan is to upload patched appliances (built from community provided TKL patches) and OpenVZ templates (built using the tkliso2ovz tool created by Adrian)

General Security

Forum:

Hi all,

I'm very happy with my new Joomla Turnkeylinux/Amazon set-up, but one thing that's bugging me as I set my websites loose on the world, and that is that security seems to have been severely downgraded from the default set-up that Amazon employ with their distros.

To start with they require keypairs to be used even for things like FTP, they don't have a root user by default and your security groups are open to the whole world, for everyone from everywhere, upon firing the system up.
