Please expect the next 10 appliances (+/-) within the next week (+/-). The VM builds are on the way too! Perhaps next week? Although no promises.

As per usual, these updated appliances are all published to our mirror network or they can be launched directly from the Hub (look for the 16.x text link - in the top right corner). They are also available for download direct from their relevant appliance pages (links provided below).

As per the last post, I'll first highlight the 10 most recent releases, but then also note all the v16.0 appliances released to date. In this post, I'll also give some updates on other builds, especially the VM (OVA & VMDK) builds.

TurnKey 12.1 64-bit maintenance release built with new tkldev build appliance

TurnKey 12.1 is out and it's the first 64-bit maintenance release to be built with tkldev - TurnKey's shiny new open appliance build system in a box.

With 64-bit support out the door, we've also pushed out a round of updates to the Hub so that users can finally deploy TurnKey on all instance sizes.

New Hub feature: Server snapshots

I usually get excited when adding new features to the TurnKey Hub. Recent excitement included server monitoring, reserved instances, domain management, and the Hub API.

I'm very excited about todays annoucement, not only is it awesomely useful, it's also technically cool!

New Hub feature: Cloud server monitoring

Ladies and gentle geeks, I'm proud to announce we've just pushed out 100% free basic server monitoring to all TurnKey Hub accounts. This should make it easier to keep tabs on the health and performance of your cloud servers. Existing Hub users don't need to do anything to enjoy this new feature. It just works.

A better server dashboard

As you can see in the screenshot below, the server dashboard now includes thumbnail graphs of CPU utilization, disk IO and network traffic for the last hour:

Reserve instance dialog

In response to user demand on the forum we've added Hub support for Amazon EC2 reserved instances.

Reserved instances are an Amazon EC2 feature that allows you to reserve server capacity up to 3 years in advance by paying a low one-time fee.

TurnKey Hub: Not just adding random features

I started writing a review for cloudtask as a comment on the announcement, but decided it would be better to address a topic that was raised by Jeremiah when we launched the Hub API:

Introducing CloudTask - a cloud batch execution tool

The cloud. Isn't that just a new name everyone on the latest hype bandwagon is slapping on the same old stuff? Yes. Or rather, at least the way some clueless marketing types are using it that is. With so much smoke you'd forgive the cynics for thinking there's no fire. But... there are a few genuinely interesting things an IT guy can do today that just weren't practical a few years back.
