v16.0 Stable Release #8 - 12 updated ISOs, Hub, VM & Proxmox builds

Update 2020-08-27: Please see the ninth instalment of updated appliances.
Update 2020-08-31: Please see the tenth instalment of updated appliances.
Update 2020-10-19: Please see the eleventh instalment of updated appliances.

I'm back with some more updated appliances. This time it's 12 updated apps (11 x v16.0 & Mibew v16.1 security update). Just like the previous batch, this next instalment of v16.0 stable TurnKey Linux appliances includes Hub, ISO, VM (OVA/VMDK) and Proxmox/LXC build formats.

As per always, these updated appliances, are all published to our mirror network or they can be launched directly from the Hub (look for the 16.x text link - in the top right corner). Please note, we will switch v16.x to be the Hub default soon. They are also available for download direct from their relevant appliance pages (links provided below).

As per convention, I'll first highlight the most recent releases, but then also list all the v16.x appliances released to date. Unfortunately, I still don't have any updates regarding the remaining alternate builds, but as noted in my last post, the AWS Marketplace builds are now up!

Latest v16.0 appliances

As noted above, you can find the latest 12 appliances updated to v16.0 directly below. This also includes the v16.1 release for Mibew due to a security update - please see the specific blog post for more details.

As per all the previous v16.0 appliances, they are based on Debian 10/Buster so have updated packages. The ones that include software installed directly from third parties have all been refreshed too. Where available, we tend to prefer the latest stable LTS (long term support) version of third party software. Otherwise, we install the latest stable release as of the time of the build. Many also include bug fixes, improvements and/or inclusion of feature requests. Please see the specific appliance changelogs for full info (or ask in the comments).

Please note that these are all released in ISO, Hub, LXC/Proxmox and VM (OVA & VMDK) builds. In alphabetical order, here are the most recently updated apps:

v16.0 Jenkins is on the way and will be in the next batch.

Jitsi has been requested a few times relatively recently and I'd love to see it happen, but not sure when. Matris.org, Discourse.org and Peertube.org are all projects I'm aware of and would also love to see. Again, I'm not sure when we might get there, but they would certainly be great to add to the library.

If you're in a position to help out and push any of these forward, then I'd be happy to provide as much support and coaching around that as I can. Let me know if you want to take that up.

Do you have a how-to to start from scratch?

Do you mean how to create a new Jenkins machine using the latest TurnKey release? Or are you wanting to migrate existing data to the latest TurnKey appliance?

If it's the latter, you have 2 choices.

The first is to try doing it via TKLBAM (but before you create your backup, note that this issue may apply). Once you've created your backup, then restore it to the new machine. To ensure everything works smoothly, I suggest doing a multi-part staged restore, and probably just restoring the core Jenkins data. If you want to follow this path and aren't sure what I mean, please ask and I'll happliy elaborate.

The other is to just manually move across the relevant data. Assuming that your existing Jenkins appliance isn't super old, it should be /var/lib/jenkins. You can just archive the contents of that directory and copy the archive across to the new server and unpack it.

If you need more clarification and./or have further questions, please post back. Although it may be better to open a new thread in the forums?! (You'll need to be logged in to do that).

Deep apologies, the update Jenkins files has actually been on the mirror a little while, but I got sidetracked working on updates and only just realised that I never properly updated the website and announced the latest updates.
