Unfortunately I have a virtual production machine behind a proxy that not permit the automatic download of updates, there's no way to bypass.
At the moment the only way to update TKLAMP stuff is shutdown the server, copy the entire VM, take it to my house, install it on my VMWare workstation, upgrading it and finally put again in production ESX environment.. it's not good at all.
I've been using a couple virtual appliances (issue tracking/roundup, version control/svn) for some months and am very happy with both of them. AFAIU, all packages installed are Debian stable. I'm curious about the upgrading policy of the virtual appliances:
Does the TK instance updates automatically as soon as new version of the packages are released or is this left to us, the users?
Relatively new to linux and turnkey linux. Previously, I've installed and used turnkey appliances under VMWare. Now I want install the tomcat appliance ISO on a machine that is running windows server 2008 R2. I want to dual boot. The machine has a single hard drive. I found general information on the web about dual booting windows server with ubuntu and other flavors of linux. Most of the tips are for Ubuntu and include suggestions on how to manually partition the hard drive and using EasyBCD to modify the boot menu.
Why isnt is possible to assign a TLD on its own to an instance . ie domain.com? The only way around this is to create a subdomain(host) www. , then assign this. Doing this however causes an issue that only www.domain.com will resolve to the instance, domain.com does not resolve.
I've recently deployed the Turnkey SMF package you offer, but am having trouble with the upgrade packages. The forum as you have it deployed is ver 2.0.2, and they are now up to 2.0.4. I was able to sucessfully import the package into SMF, however it seems there is something wrong with the way that SMF is installed, as the upgrade will not install, or perhaps it's something I'm doing wrong. Can someone with this running on ver 2.0.2 verify that the upgrade packages work with the way it's installed?
