Understanding Magento Appliance from TurnKeyLinux.org and VirtualBox.

Forum:

i am quite a newbie to web dev but I manage a magneto website and have come to the point where i have to hire devs for certain things plus just upgrade my own workflow. thought I would install XAMPP and TortoiseSVN and be good to go...just tweak locally and upload changes to my server when they are done. then I came across a couple blogs that talked about workflows like Magento Appliance from TurnKeyLinux.org. some other are with Ubuntu and other variations making the whole thing a bit confusing as to the best way to go.

lamp stack apache mysql question

Forum:
Tags:

I'm confused on how to access the apache and mysql settings in the lamp stack.

I installed lamp stack from the iso to a VM on ESXI. I can access the WebShell command line console and Webmin web admin, but don't see anything for apache or mysql.

Also when I sftp in the /var/www folder doesn't exist, /var is there, but /www is not.

I actually thought I did something wrong, so I re-downloaded the ISO and re-loaded the VM. Getting the same thing.

Any tips on how to get apache and mysql running?

TKLBam update Passwords in Restore?

Forum:

I have found TKLBAM to be very helpful for process development..  However, I have run into a few security issues where it has seemed that the best course of action is to "change" passwords with TKLBAM restore.

To date, my experience is that I have to make a new VM with the same password set at time of install, so that the TKLBAM update does not change anything and works directly.

Is there a quick way to systematically "post restore" change the passwords for the following?

Help with setting up a Turnkey Drupal appliance to work both on and off (stand alone pc) my home network

Forum:

I searched the forum before I asked this, but was not able to locate a similar question. I apologize if it has been asked. I am attempting to setup a Drupal appliance on a virtualbox. My objective is to be able to work on my projects on or off my home network. This would be using the same laptop, of course. I have no problem setting it up with DHCP, but, of course, this will not work when I am off the network. I was thinking I could set it up with 127.0.0.1, but not sure if that would work or how I would configure the ip and gateway settings.

Can't connect to turnkey lampp using IP address from browser

Forum:
I recently downloaded Turnkey lampp and VirtualBox 4.04 on Ubuntu 11.04 on my laptop. My connection to my laptop is wired. I followed the instructions on this site for setting up virtual appliances using VirtualBox and the appliance's ISO and got everything to install correctly. But I can't access lampp through a web browser using my IP. I made sure to use the bridge adapter option but it seems like it doesn't allow incoming transmissions. I tried connecting from both Firefox and Chrome but couldn't connect. Is there something I missed or did wrong here? Thanks for helping

file_completed_cmd not working?

Forum:

I have the latest version of TorrentServer up and running. I can't seem to get the file_completed_cmd to work at all.  It will not execute. The permissions on the script are correct, but it just doesn't seem like it is even trying to execute it.
Where can I start looking at this issue? The "/var/log/mldonkey/mlnet.log" makes no mention of this.

Installing SSL Cert

Forum:
Tags:

I'm trying to install our own wildcard cert on an 11.1 Moodle appliance.  I've edited /etc/apache2/sites-available/default-ssl with our new cert info but when I test with Digicert's SSL tester the TurnKey SSL cert still shows up.

Any advice?

Thanks!

TKLpatch-virtualbox-R-pae question

Forum:

Hi all.  Beginner here at TKL-virtualization.  My background is in SMB computing. I've read through much of this sites docs and I am currently choosing TKL for my web site project base system.

My server specs are Intel E6300 CPU w/ 8 GB Ram, 160GB HDD on a Asus server board.

The OS is your 32 bit core w/pae enabled. (I tried proxmox yesterday...didn't find it approp. I can comment on later on that if somebody asks.)   So...the above system as a base I want to apply the TKLpatch from Rik at ISOmatic which you approved so I suppose you support called virtualbox-R-pae.
