Newbie PDC Questions

Forum:

Hi All

I have just found this site and the appliances seem really useful.

Anyway my questions relate to the PDC Appliance.

For a while I have been searching for a less expensive PDC than Windows 2003 / 8 so that Windows clients can authenticate and access files shares etc.

I really just need a server for a small church where they can access files etc.

Is the PDC appliance up to the job of this? And what are the limits / restrictions?

Drupal and Tomcat

Forum:

I am currently using the Drupal 6 TurnKey appliance.  I am also developing some Java servlets and so will use Tomcat as the servlet container.  However, those servlets will need to be on the same machine as Drupal, so should I:

1) Install Tomcat on the Drupal 6 TurnKey appliance?

2) Install Drupal on the Tomcat on Apache appliance?

3) Something else?

TWiki - Adding plugins

Forum:

Hi all,

Does anyone know how to add plugins to the TWiki appliance? The standard instructions on the TWiki web site do not seem to apply to the TKL appliance, since there are TWiki packages missing from it; and the file structure for the TWiki installation does not match the defaults.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

TKLPatch fails with /proc errors when including acpid in thepatch/debs/

Forum:

UPDATE: Narrowed down the problem.  When a TKL patch contains acpid (specifically acpid_1.0.4--5ubuntu9.3_i386.deb), the build gives a long stream of errors like

Failed to read file turnkey-mediawiki-2009.10-2-hardy-x86.rootfs/proc/irq/9/smp_affinity, creating empty file

Failed to read file turnkey-mediawiki-2009.10-2-hardy-x86.rootfs/proc/kallsyms, creating empty file

The build ultimately fails with

Failed to read file turnkey-mediawiki-2009.10-2-hardy-x86.rootfs/proc/kcore, creating empty file

TKLPatch and modifying the image after installation [SOLVED]

Forum:

Big fan of TKLPatch here.  I'd like to write a patch that runs a script to modify a few files after the ISO is installed.

UPDATE: Learned about the inithooks system (http://code.turnkeylinux.org/inithooks/docs/README). Nice!

UPDATE2: Learned about /usr/lib/live-installer.d/.  Double nice!

Enhancements to forums (better e-mail notifications, syntax highlighting)

Forum:

I've made a few usability enhancements that should make it easier for the community to engage with the TurnKey forums. Crossed out a bunch of errata that I've had stuck in my todo list for a while.

Xen Server Templates Support (Please!)

Forum:

Great people out there! This is my first forum post! Thanks for reading this!

Basically I'd like to see the VM images ported to Xen templates. I'm no virtualization guru (yet!) but Xen makes every sense for a Linux based project like Turnkey Linux. On that regard, I'd make myself available, including computing power and bandwidth for whatever needed. If you know somebody that already did this, please let me know!

Anybody out there would lend a helping hand?

Regards,

Problems installing TKL on HP ML350 G6

Forum:

Hi,

Has anybody experience problems installing TKL on this machine or similar?

The installation process ends with a "initransfs" console. I don´t see any errors in the log before ending...

Any help will be very apreciated.

Thanks.
