Hardware requirements for running appliance

Forum:

I just discovered this site and the timing is great as we are just looking at starting to work with Drupal.  Installing the required components looked like a daunting task, so learning about the appliance idea could be a great time-saver.  Sorry if this is a dumb question, but must the appliance be installed on a Ubuntu box?  We have more local experience managing Mac OSX servers and desktops.  Can that be used for the Drupal 6 appliance?

Thank you.

No more confconsole

Forum:

I setup the Turnkey Mediawiki date 2/2009 in a VMWare session. However when I copied the vmware session files to a different system the confconsole no longer starts and networking does not work. When the VM boots, it comes just straight to the login in prompt.

This issues seems to be the same type of problem reported in this forum discussion:

PHP MyAdmin and other local IP not working

Forum:

Hi Everyone,

I need  to empty the existing database of my Drupal appliance, freshly installed (no content yet).

That is when I realised that accesses to PhpMyadmin, and other webmins, https did not connect. Only the site.

Also, I do not see where to place the modules, themes and things Drupal has to offer. I do not see any drupal file on my system by the way. Is it a trick of the .iso image disk ? (you can figure how much of a newby I am ;-)

Tx for your help.

Drupal appliance not working

Forum:

Hi every one,

After installation I cannot get to the Drupal site.

I have done the install as explained. Here are my settings:

  • Vista PC
  • Virtual machine and turnkey-drupal6-2009.03-hardy-x86.iso insides folders on E:\ (instead of C:\ ) inside separate folders.
  • I choose linux /ubuntu as OS to install via the VB wizard

These are the only changes I made to the settings offered during install.

Are these enough for not working ? Thanks for any help to a newby

Newbie: How to upload lots of files (SOLVED)

Forum:

I should apologise in advance - I have a background of about 15 years in Windows, and only in the past few days have tentatively dipped my toe into the Linux world. Don't know any Unix either.

I've just installed the Turnkey appliance for Drupal 6 into a VMWare image. It all seems to work fine. Drupal is up and running, and is installed.

building a custom software appliance

Forum:

Hello, i would like to build a custom turnkey software appliance. There is a Turnkey Core Distribution available with the promising description "Common Base for All Appliances" is there any howto or whitepaper available on how to build a custom distribution based on Turnkey core?

Thanks

kernel panic with VirtualBox on AMD Phenom (SOLVED)

Forum:

On trying to boot the iso in Vbox both the live system and install to disk I get a kernel panic.

My setup is a triple core phenom 3 gigs of ram running intrepid ibex x64.

I tryed enabling IO APIC in the  VBox settings for the VM I'm installing to, this gets rid of the kernel panic.

I just remembered I probably could have used the no-apic command at boot.

Maybe this info can be added to the VBox faq and install guide if you can reproduce the problem I had.

Compile zabbix (Tools monitoring) with enable-static

Forum:

Hell Support

I'm trying to compile zabbix (A Tools monitoring) to validate an appliance (Starting from LAMP, installing all necessary lib in dev format, compile with enable-static so as to have binaries with all libraries). My goal is to, after compiling everything, install the appliance from scratch, install the binaries and the front php web, and play with my appliance monitoring

But I'm unable to find any package for lgssapi_krb5.

It's linked to Ubuntu LTS or I made a mistake somewhere ?

How to upgrade Drupal 6 appliance to most recent version (6.10)

Forum:

Hi,

So I'm looking to try Drupal out, and I found this appliance which is looking great so far. But I noticed that it's running version 6.6, and the most recent version on Drupal.org is 6.10. I started trying to upgrade, but I became lost when trying to delete all the files out of the "drupal installation directory". Specifically, I think I found where this directory lives (/usr/share/drupal6), but things look funny. Specifically things such as the .htaccess file is a symlink rather than a file.
