On the LAMP appliance there is an FTP server already setup but the home directory is root's home directory I believe. How do I either setup a new user with a different FTP home directory or change the default one?
I am a newbie to Turnkey LAMP and VMware. I successfully installed VMware Player 3.0 on my MS Vista machine as well as successfully installed the Turnkey LAMP appliance. My problem now is that I cannot "see" the VM on my network from other PCs. The IP address range assigned to the appliance also seem to be outside the IP range as specified on my router. If I ping the IP addresses provided after installing th LAMP applicaation it times out. I suppose I need to alter the settings on my host machine?? Can any body please steer me in the right direction?
I'm a newbie to Turnkey and have just set up LAMP as a virtual development environment for a website I support. Everything works great, except that the website uses cgi programs and I want to configure LAMP to run them. The cgi scripts are in directory /var/www/SITENAME/privat.
Reading some other posts on the forum I changed the configuration for the default apache site to:
It works from the Windows clients, i can ping my lamp via its hostname 'lamp' and receive the answer. But from the Mac it's only possible via Lamp's IP-address. Ping via hostname (lamp, resp. lamp.local): i get no answer.
I could not find an answer to this question in the forums here, searched the Internet and tried several things (dhcp3, hostname via webmin,...). But nothing worked. I don't run a DNS-Server here and that might be the problem for the mac.
And then I found the solution, that's why I'm posting it here, in case someone has the same problem.
I am experimenting with the Zimbra appliance at home as a prelude to deploying it on the Cloud for future corporate use (small company, less than 20 employees). I have successfully installed the ISO image under VMWare Server running on a Windows Home Server machine on my home network. I can log in successfully for email and administration, and have successfully used the Zimbra Desktop to connect to my email account. I have not directed any domain traffic at the server yet, and when I do so this will be via DynDNS for now. So far so good.
I'm getting this error in boot process and have googled it a bit and it seems like not so safe to ignore.... It says like computer may be substantially slowed down on cryption tasks...
and it seems that network card is not recognized as working device. There seems no message in dmesg about this problem and I also cannot identify card cause lspci is not present. I'll check again with other OS (to eliminate HW problem), but anyway:
