I've attached my fresh patch to create a web2py appliance from TKL's LAPP stack 11.0. I will follow this post for feedback eagerly.
I'm lucky to have a friend mentoring me in packaging for Debian and Ubuntu; with review of the debian fs hierarchy and Liraz's helpful feedback re: another patch, I chose to put web2py in /usr/share/. I look forward to your feedback about this decision.
SchoolTool was first mentioned at TKL in response to a blog post by Liraz [1]. As I endeavored to create patches for the Ubuntu School Server in a Box blueprint, I was pleased to see it on the list of server technologies to be considered for incorporation [2].
SchoolTool is a technology to manage calendars, gradebooks, attendance, reporting, and more. It can be deployed to small teams or to entire institutions [3].
I hadn't planned on tackling this one yet, as I have a growing queue, but took a minute to survey what's involved and found myself committed before I knew it.
I'm in the process of setting up a small film production company and I'm planning to install a web-based groupware package. I was wondering if any of you clever people could recommend a good groupware package, please?
I'd like:
- the ability to swap files (scripts, schedules, budgets etc)
- basic project management
- calendar
- contacts
- to-do lists
- wiki
- a media gallery would be excellent (photos, audio, movies)
Is there a way for the OpenID login option of this forum to give hints or links to providers? Without it, I find it difficult to have to go look up the correct format. I don't work with Drupal, so I don't know what is available, but a system like the one at StackOverflow would be great.
I have a really basic question. I'd like to set up a home network of sorts at the house. All my pcs use Ubuntu at the moment. I've taken an interest today in the TurnKeyLinux Domain Controller. It would, as I understand it, act as a windows NT domain controller on my network. I could then set up other computers to authenticate using the credentials stored there.
But all the instructions after the initial setup refer to configuring Windows clients for authentication. They never mention Ubuntu clients. So, my very basic questions are:
Free and open source PHP Content Management System Projects, which allow you to manage the content of your Web Site by providing an interface to add, edit and delete content easily.
I'm a PHP Pro, but haven't use any PHP framework till now, so I have no clue on
how to choose a PHP framework. Do you have some tips to help me choose the/a right PHP Framework?
I want a stable and secure PHP framework for Projects with about 400 hours development time.
It should be possible to use the framework on Shared-Hosting-Webservers.
I don't need some AJAX support (I'm using extJS).
I thought I would not be the first to post this info in the forums, but yes, TKL Lucid Appliances are already out! Thanks for the great work guys!!! (Liraz & Alon)
Three new great appliances come in this first release! Magento, Prestashop & Vtiger! Be sure you check them out!
Update: Atteached is first draft of TKLPatch intended to patch LAPP 11.1 to produce Sahana Eden with Postgres Db backend. The conf script is derived from a script for OSGeo LiveDVD Eden install; the skeleton was provided by Fran Boon, it was revised and subsequently adapted by Maurice Quarles, Jerel Moses, Steven Robinson, and me. Another revision is necessary to provide admin scripts in /usr/local/bin. ISO derived from the patch is available at http://9while9.com.
