I suggest that a virtual appliance for the Ingres 10.1 DBMS Community Edition, http://www.actian.com/downloads/ingres#community, would be an excellent addition to the portfolio of database virtual appliances.
The Ingres DBMS is a commercially used database management system that supports applications via the JDBC protocol.
First off, let me say that I was thrilled when I found TKL years ago. TKL has it made it so easy to setup new servers, try out software, and create my own appliances. However, I have to add that TKL is becoming out-of-date.
I use Turnkey Linux for some of my projects and i needed a solution like mklivecd, remastersys, relinux, to build a snapshot from an installed system. But mklivecd is not available on debian, relinux and remastersys bloat the iso because of ubiquity dependencies.
So, here is it. A modified Relinux for turnkey, works on lucid. Saves a complete snapshot of the hdd, it only deletes the udev network persistance so the netcards get configured when moved. Same di-live installer.
I discovered Turnkey and their amazing appliances not so long ago, and already tried some of them, having one (fileserver) working in production. It's really easy to use and fantastic to configure, though it needs to have some knowledge of linus systems to fix correctly the permissions for the users.
Will Mysql 5.5 be supported in the upcoming Turnkey 12.0?
How can I update turnkey 11.3 mysql 5.1 to mysql 5.5. Before I use Mysql 5.5 for my apps and development and when I migrate to turnkey 11.3 with mysql 5.1 for the live server, I run into all sorts of compatibility issues with 5.1 store procudures and I need to update to version 5.5 to fix my issues. Any easy way to do this?
